3D Object Creator
Support & Information
About the App
3D Object Creator is a modelling tool for simple, accurately dimensioned parts for 3D printing – such as brackets, plates with holes, covers, signs and spare parts. The app runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, needs no account and works completely offline.
Key features at a glance:
- Basic shapes: Box, cylinder, sphere, cone, pyramid, wedge, torus and tube. Enter size and position in millimetres or drag them directly on the model; the grid snaps to 0.01, 0.1, 1 or 10 mm.
- Boolean operations: Add, subtract and intersect bodies. Several holes are punched out of a body in one step.
- Text: Text becomes a 3D object, optionally arranged on a circle. Subtracting it engraves; adding it gives raised lettering.
- Editing: Move, rotate, scale, mirror, cut along a plane, round or chamfer edges, and edit meshes on vertices, edges and faces.
- Check and export: Mesh info shows whether a model is watertight and ready to print. Import STL, OBJ, PLY and 3MF; export STL, OBJ, PLY and 3MF – for example straight to your slicer.
- Apple Watch: The watch app works on its own: create shapes and text, set dimensions with the Digital Crown, run boolean operations and exchange projects with the iPhone.
- 100 % privacy: No account, no ads, no tracking. All models stay on your device.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
How do I punch holes into a plate?
Select the plate first, then the bodies to subtract (e.g. cylinders). Then tap “1 − rest” in the bar at the bottom. All other objects are subtracted from object 1 in one go. The selection order decides what is subtracted from what; drag to reorder.
How do I get my model to the 3D printer?
Use the menu (☰) → File → Export and pick the format (STL, 3MF, OBJ or PLY). The file is handed to the share sheet – from there you can save it to Files or open it directly in your slicer app. Projects in .3dbproj format remain fully editable.
What does “print-ready (watertight)” mean?
A printable model needs a closed surface without holes, open edges or edges shared by more than two faces. Under ☰ → Mesh → Mesh info the app checks this and lists any problems. “Repair” and “Fill all holes” fix many issues automatically, e.g. in imported files.
How does the grid work when moving and scaling?
With the “Automatic” setting the step adapts to zoom and drag speed (0.01 / 0.1 / 1 / 10 mm). When scaling, the size snaps in millimetres and the percentage may be an odd number. You can always type exact values into the tool panel at the bottom.
The watch app does not appear on my Apple Watch – what can I do?
Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll down on “My Watch” to “Available Apps” and tap Install next to “3D Object Creator”. The watch needs watchOS 10 or later. You can also get the watch app directly from the App Store on the watch.
How do I exchange projects between iPhone and Apple Watch?
On the watch, the File page offers “Load from iPhone” and “Send to iPhone”. The transfer only happens when you start it and runs directly between your devices – not through our servers.
I did something by mistake.
The tool strip on the left has Undo and Redo. Tip: back up important projects regularly via export, as the app does not create cloud backups.
